LAKE FOREST – Bernie’s Book Bank has collected, processed and distributed more than four million books since it opened five years ago, serving more than 110,000 at-risk children annually. To continue its mission to serve ALL at-risk children in Chicagoland with 12 quality books per year, it is expanding to new location by the end of 2015.
The non-profit organization’s new home at 917 North Shore Drive in Lake Bluff is a 35,000 square foot facility – more than seven times the size of its current Lake Forest location, and it features a large processing center, flexible event space, exhibit area and room to receive 700 pallets of books.
The new book processing center will accommodate 125 volunteers at a time and enable Bernie’s Book Bank to process more than four million books per year.
