North Shore high schools have been busy demolishing and renovating everything from classroom buildings to parking lots. As the first day of school approaches, here is a progress report on what parents and students can expect at Highland Park, Deerfield, and Glenbrook North High Schools.
Highland Park High School
- The Vine Avenue visitor/staff parking lot is under construction with completion anticipated for October, and will not be available as a drop-off/pick up location in the meantime. Parents can still use the west lot, the north side of Vine Avenue, and the North Lot.
- Upon completion of the new DHS pool in late fall, the HPHS swimming/diving and water polo teams will move over to use the old DHS pool while the HPHS pool is built. Girls’ tennis will be at Danny Cunniff Park again this year.
● A new three-court gymnasium will be accessible on the first day of school.
Deerfield High School
- The DHS swim/dive and water polo teams will begin using the new pool upon completion in late fall.
- A new three-court gymnasium will open on the first day of school.
- The library renovation/expansion will be completed in early fall.
Glenbrook North High School
- New faculty offices for Physical Education, Health, Driver’s Education, and Athletic offices were constructed.
- The Women’s coaches locker room has been renovated.
- Campus parking lots were seal-coated and repaired.
Classes begin on Monday August 24 for Glenbrook North High School, and on Wednesday August 26 for Highland Park and Deerfied High Schools.
