LAKE FOREST & LAKE BLUFF—Judith W. Spencer, a resident of Lake Bluff and Lake Forest for the past 48 years, passed away on July 18, 2015.
She was born in Cumberland, Maryland in 1933, the eldest daughter of Louis and Edriess Wright. After graduating from Towson State College in Maryland, she taught elementary school in Maryland and Illinois.
Judy loved to walk, and the Lake Forest Beach walkway was an ideal setting. She also was an avid reader. But more than anything else, she enjoyed people. She had the unique quality of making people comfortable when they were with her.
Judy is survived by Bruce, her husband of 58 years, their two children, Charles Spencer (Cathy) and Corinne Ellis (David), and five grandchildren–Hillary Spencer, Will Spencer, Elizabeth Ellis, Brian Ellis, and Abigail Ellis. She also is survived by two sisters, Joyce Humbert and Jo Whitten (David), as well as a brother, Louis (Carolyn).
A memorial service will be held at the Grace United Methodist Church, 244 E. Center, Lake Bluff, at 10.00 am on Tuesday, July 28. Interment will be private. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Children’s Room of the Lake Bluff Library, 123 E. Scranton, Lake Bluff IL. 60044.
