Loyola Academy’s Ella Tierney launches into the 500-yard freestyle.
Ella Tierney, a swimmer at Loyola Academy, is the DailyNorthSHore.com Athlete of the Month.
The University of Texas recruit turned in some phenomenal performances in the IHSA state meet at Evanston High School on Nov. 19. The senior claimed a state title in the 500 freestyle (4:48.45), while she earned runner-up honors in the 200 free (1:47.24). She also anchored two high-placing relays: 400 free (2nd, 3:26.34) and 200 free (3rd, 1:34.87). Her efforts helped the Ramblers to a second-place team finish.
Tierney also won the 200 free and 500 free races at the Deerfield Sectional and at the MCAC Championships.
