LAKE FOREST – More than 2,500 attendees participated in an annual student technology conference on Feb. 20 that was hosted across the state of Illinois. Lake Forest School District 67 was one of the six sites that hosted the Students Involved in Technology, commonly known as the SIT conference.
DeerPath had over 570 active participants taking part as a participant, presenter, sponsor or volunteer. 63 different schools had representation at Saturday’s Lake Forest site.

With over 100 sessions to select from, students could attend six sessions that were 30 minutes in length. Breakfast, snacks and lunch were included in the day. Some examples of the sessions were Kids “Kan” Build Computers!, Pixel Art on Minecraft and Building, Mastering Instagram, All About High-Tech Toys: Past & Present, Screencasting, editing & marketing your Minecraft videos to make your YouTube Channel epic!, The Magic of a TED Talk and much more.

The conference required a $25 registration. The site for registration begins the first week of November and closes after the first 500 participants. www.sitconference.org
This is a conference BY kids, FOR kids. It is a day not to be missed for those who love to discover the latest and greatest of tech with students in grades 3-12. DeerPath Middle School will be hosting the conference again for 2017. Mark your calendars for Feb. 11, 2017.
