HIGHLAND PARK – The Illinois Arts Council (IAC) has awarded the Highland Park Cultural Arts Commission (CAC) a grant of $4,365 from federal funds through National Endowment for the Arts for the Community Arts Access Program. On Feb. 8, City Council approved the CAC’s recommendation to allocate the funds to the local arts organizations, which did not receive its full funding request from the city’s Purchase of Service Grants in the previous year.
The additional funding was distributed in the amounts of $1,000 to the Art Center; $500 to the Highland Park Historical Society; $515 to the Highland Park Public Librar; $1,250 to Muse of Fire Theatre; $300 to Patron of the Arts; $500 to Pilgrim Chamber Players, and $300 to HP Community Nursery School/Tri-Con.
Now that City Council approved the funding recommendations, an addendum to the grant agreement will be forwarded to the applicant agencies. Once the city receives the funding from the state and upon receipt of fully executed grant agreements, grant funds will be released.
The Highland Park Cultural Arts Commission’s Purchase of Service Grant Program is an annual grant program available to create projects and broaden public access to more arts activities and encourage organizations to be more creative in planning cultural arts projects. The program is partially funded through a grant from the Illinois Arts Council.
The funds for this program will be paid for from a grant from the Illinois Arts Council that will be received in 2016, with no additional cost to the General Fund.
