Character & Humanitarianism Count

HIGHLAND PARK – The city’s Character Counts Steering Committee is currently accepting nominations for the 2016 Robert Barnard Character Counts Awards. These awards recognize and honor students, residents, and members of the business community for consistently demonstrating the six pillars of character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship.

Nomination forms and further details are available on the City of Highland Park’s website at www.cityhpil.com/awards. Please complete, save, and e-mail the fillable form to Lfrey@cityhpil.com, no later than March 7, 2016.

Additionally, the Human Relations Commission (HRC) is currently accepting nominations for the 2016 Humanitarian Award. The HRC established the Highland Park Humanitarian Award to recognize any individual who has rendered outstanding service to the Highland Park community. Any person who has a record of sustained giving and has, through his or her efforts, made a significant contribution to changing lives in the Highland Park community may be nominated. Areas of service may include, but are not limited to, education, charitable work, philanthropy, environmental advocacy, public policy, and serving senior citizens, youth, the disabled, and the underprivileged.

Recipients selected to receive the Humanitarian Award or a Robert Barnard Character Counts Pillar Award will be announced on March 23, 2016, and will be invited to an awards ceremony at Highland Park High School on April 20, 2016.
