LAKE FOREST – The Lake Forest Fire Department is ready to kick off its annual Citizens Fire Academy beginning Thursday, April 21 and running every Thursday for six weeks, ending on May 26.
This is an interactive program designed to familiarize our citizens with the department personnel, equipment used, and Fire Department operations. It also provides a forum for the Department and citizens to share information and concerns. The Citizens Fire Academy is dedicated to increasing public awareness and creating a safer environment at home and in the workplace, and it is FUN!
Topics include:
- History and overview of the Fire Department
- Fire apparatus/Engine operations
- Fire gear & Emergency Medical Services
- Incident Command
- Mutual Aid
- Auto Extrication
- Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus
- Ladder Truck Operations
- Fire Prevention
- Special Teams
Participants must be 18 years of age and reside or own a business in Lake Forest or Lake Bluff. The enrollment application may be obtained from the Fire Department portion of the City of Lake Forest website: http://www.cityoflakeforest.com/
