It appears the Highland Park Plan and Design Commission will vote in favor of merging three properties on Oakwood Avenue, and then approve a zoning change permitting the building of an apartment 35% larger than the current zoning allows.
This means four members of a non-elected board are all that is required to both alter the character of a neighborhood, where over 100 residents signed a petition in opposition; and also, put in place the future justification for additional changes to the zoning of the other properties in this area.
If residents must accept the zoning as it stands now, then so must everyone else, both the builder and especially the Commission.
Yours truly,
Gary Giuntoli
