WINNETKA- The District 36 School Board voted to unanimously approve the 2015 Final Levy. The Levy is a request for property tax income, representing over 90% of the District’s annual revenue. After a great deal of discussion and contemplation, the Board lowered the levy request from 5.95% to 1.87%.

The School Board is dedicated to collecting only what is needed and will discuss a March 2016 Abatement option to further reduce 2015 property taxes. This timeline is similar to the 2013 Levy process. Over the next three months, the Board will evaluate any potential negative impacts of the state’s actions and other expenditure needs of the District. In conjunction with this process, the District will be addressing taxpayer interests and benefits from the redemption of up to $30 million of debt in 2017 and annual determinations of tax abatements or other Levy reduction opportunities to provide additional tax relief.
